Types of Trainer

It is important to not only select the right trainer for your specific needs and goals but also to ensure that the trainer you select has the right level of knowledge, skills and experience. The Club-Training offers 4 grades of trainer:

Back to Top Elite Trainer Grade 5 Trainer

The Elite Trainer is a 'specialist in Physical Training' and is a trainer who excels in the field of corrective exercise, rehabilitation and performance training. Elite Trainers offer more detailed and prescriptive exercise coaching and are for those who are dedicated to achieving the very best results or those with injuries / special considerations.

Using the most advanced postural and movement based screening and assessments, an Elite Trainer will identify their clients' dysfunction or injury and will coach them through every step on the road to top-level performance or simply back to full fitness.

Required Qualifications

REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) level 3 or equivalent plus a high level corrective, rehabilitative, or performance enhancement qualification. (e.g. CHEK Practitioner Level 1, NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, FASTER Diploma in Functional Training)

Back to Top Advanced Trainer Grade 4 Trainer

Advanced Trainers provide outstanding results by focussing on movement and exercise technique. They help improve muscle tone and recruitment, posture, balance, core strength and produce a more efficient, functional and conditioned body.

Advanced Trainers offer a balanced approach to exercise training with detailed and functional training programmes. Their programmes are based on the results of a postural and movement based assessment which highlights muscular imbalances present within the body. Once corrected, the client should expect to see a much higher level of results from their training programmes.

Required Qualifications

REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) level 3 or equivalent plus an approved advanced PT qualification. (e.g. Premier Masters in Personal Training, CHEK Exercise Coach, NASM Certified Personal Trainer, NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist, FASTER Certificate in Functional Training)

Back to Top Personal Trainer Grade 3 Trainer

Personal Trainers provide training in all areas of general fitness and will provide clients with all the motivation and support they need to achieve their desired goals, both short and long term.

They use progressive, periodised training programmes, specific and personal to each client. They select the best loads, reps, sets and order of exercises to overload the body and deliver results significantly better than by training alone. They provide hard AND fun workouts and educate clients on the best exercises to perform and the best intensities to work at.

Required Qualifications

All Personal Trainers hold a REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) level 3 qualification or equivalent – the required national standard.

Back to Top Fitness Trainer Grade 2 Trainer

A Fitness Trainer is a REPS level 2 trainer who can teach clients a variety of exercises and provide ongoing care and support. Most Fitness Trainers work in health clubs providing introductory programmes for new members and group exercise training.

Required Qualifications

All Fitness Trainers hold a REPS (Register of Exercise Professionals) level 2 qualification.

Back to Top Group Exercise Trainer

A Group Exercise Trainer is a fully qualified Studio Professional who can teach groups of clients in a studio based setting.
